Distinction is a 7000 square foot building housing over 15 gallery spaces: our front gallery, which features artists from around the world, "The Alley" featuring over 100 works from artists around the world, the "Lounge" featuring 8 local artists (juried rental spaces), and 14 artists studios (juried rental spaces) ranging in size from 150 - 800 square feet featuring local artists. The Gallery features contemporary and cutting edge artwork with an emphasis on figurative pop and urban surrealism. With a focus on painting, the gallery exhibits work by emerging and internationally acclaimed artists. Distinction educates new buyers as well as selling to established galleries and private collectors around the world. She received her degree in photography and art history from the College of Santa Fe in 2000. After working as assistant director of a successful gallery in La Jolla, CA, Walker and her husband, Sam Pulvers, renovated and opened Distinction in 2004. Walker and Pulvers now run Distinction full time as a husband and wife team. Walker received one of eight "2006 People's Choice" awards from the Downtown Business Association for those who have made a significant impact in the community. Distinction is also pleased to be named as "Best Gallery: featuring Urban Art" for 2006-2007 in San Diego magazine, voted "Best Art Gallery" for 2007, and in the top 5 in 2008 and 2009. on Channel 10 news and voted "Best Gallery" on the Escondido Experience website. If you would like to purchase a work of art, please call or email the gallery with the artist's name in the subject field or purchase directly from our web site. If the piece you are interested in is in our current exhibition we will ship the piece out within 7 days of the shows closure. If it is a piece from inventory, and not in the current exhibition, we will send it out within 5 days of purchase. We guarantee to ensure safe delivery of artwork in the US and abroad. We accept Visa, MC, Discover, AMEX, Paypal, checks, money orders, and cash. Although we are not actively seeking submissions, we always enjoy seeing new artwork. If you feel your work is compatible with what we exhibit, please email a web site link (not myspace) or a small selection of sample .jpeg images to the gallery with media, size, and retail prices. Please understand that we receive a large number of submissions daily and although we do look at all of them we will only respond if we are interested in exhibiting your work. In the main gallery we focus on artists who reside outside San Diego county. Local artists are encouraged to submit work for our juried studios and wall spaces. Please do not mail submissions. They will not be returned. Hours Thursday - Saturday: Noon - 5 pm Second Saturdays: Noon - 11 pm and by appointment The gallery hosts a party and reception on the second Saturday of every month featuring fine wine, beer, or spirits, live music by some of the best up and coming musicians from San Diego and Los Angeles and of course, lots of art.
