Ekundayo: The name is Nigerian in origin (meaning "joy"), but the artist was born in Honolulu, HI in the early eighties. He found his initial passion for art through the street level graffiti of his surroundings. This eventually led to his professional creative studies in illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA where he still resides. The artist notes a range of influences such as Arthur Rackham, Nicoli Fechin, Toulouse Lautrec, Lucien Freud, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Sergio Toppi and Alan E. Cober but easily manages to bring his own visionistic style to life. His morphing human figures have a smooth tension to their twisted contortions, while the yielding color schemes smudge and blend with the same warped abandon. While freelancing his illustration skills, Ekundayo actively participates in numerous showings around the greater Los Angeles area. ekundayo.com Shay: Born in Denver, CO but migrated to California for the surfing action, Shay Davis continues to spin his own direction of surrealistic approach. Cubist Picasso and Dali influences are obvious, but the interacting choice of shapes and colors are not. The spatial interactions can keep the eyes lost in a maze of overlapping and free floating forms. Strangely enough, some of his biggest fans are professional football players, with Koy Detmer of the Eagles, Matt Lepsis and Steve Busik of the Denver Broncos and Matt Russell and Reggie Brown of the Detroit Lions are counted among his buyers. Professional skateboarder Tony Hawk and actress Halle Berry also display his works. The artist actively participates in numerous charity events which shows his heart has as much passion for life as does his art. Paul Torres: This Chilean born artist started his career young with an introduction to comic books at the age of three. His father noticed his drawing skills and hired an art tutor for the young illustrator. By the age of seven, he was enrolled in an art correspondence school. At age nine, Paul came to the United States for a year stay which cemented his permanent immigration at age eighteen. After serving in the US Army, Paul attended Otis Parsons Institute as well as receiving a Bachelor of Fine Art in Illustration from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Known for creativity in multiple mediums, he prefers to work in oils. Much of his art is rooted in real life models but taken to a magical level of personalized extremism that conveys complete stories with a single expression. This ability has earned him praise as a "soul" artist. paul-torres.com Back
