Eric Johnson

Eric Johnson is a painter and instructor at the Academy of Realist Art Boston, where he leads the online atelier program and teaches private lessons from his home studio. As a young adult, Eric set out in search of a place where he could study traditional painting methods, the kind rooted in deep observation, time-honored materials, and the techniques of the old masters. That journey led him to The Academy of Realist Art Boston, where he was awarded a scholarship and went on to complete the full program. Over time, he became one of the school?s core instructors, helping carry forward the lineage he once sought out for himself. Eric?s own work spans portraiture, still life, and landscape, always aiming to express beauty, truth, and emotional presence through a high level of craft. He has extensive experience making his own pigments and paints by hand, a practice that connects him more deeply to the material history of painting. Eric's works of art are held in private collections across the U.S. and internationally.
