Michelle Hauswirth

Michelle Hauswirth is a versatile artist based out of Encinitas, CA. Michelle has been drawing for most of her life. As a child, she would draw portraits of herself, family, friends, and pets; pretty much anything willing to sit for a few moments? time.

Graphite has been Michelle?s primary medium for rendering until 2012, when her obsession with orchids began. The colors, intricacy, and the diversity of the orchid family pulled her out of her previous resolution to only use color sparingly. Most recently, she has enjoyed anthropomorphizing orchids and other flowers. The intent is to capture those moments of animation that possibly occur when your back is turned.

Michelle is a returning student at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA. Currently she is studying ceramics and hopes to teach in that field someday soon. She had taken a few years off school in order to work and start a family, during which time she was not able to produce art. Now a single mom and again a dedicated student and artist, Michelle has since been working hard towards honing her skills as a realism artist, as well as towards her goal of becoming a teacher.
