Richard Salcido

Richard Salcido was born and raised in San Diego, and completed his BFA at the Laguna College of Art and Design. Influenced by comic books, graffiti and magazine advertisements, Salcido took an interest in art from a very young age.

By including elements of tearing and scratchy effects in his paintings, Salcido draws upon the decay of urban art and old magazine ads. This adds depth and edge to his sumptuously rendered female subjects.

"My work to me is very important: I try to get the best finished product possible for that day. I know the enjoyment I get out of my own work and I want it to be shared with others. This is my artistic goal."

Salcido currently lives in San Diego.
