Press StatementArtHatch and Distinction Gallery are thrilled to be hosting an exhibition of one of Escondido's most beloved artists, Kelly Vivanco. This exhibit, entitled "Tendrils", will feature Vivanco's newest creations. The Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 6-10pm with Live Music. Vivanco will be in attendance at the opening reception to meet, greet, and answer questions. Local artists within the ArtHatch building will have their studios open to the public as well. Complimentary BK Cellars wine and Stone Beer will be served to guests.
Vivanco draws from the real and imagined world to populate her works with a host of playful and curious characters. She takes inspiration from vintage photographs, children's literature and the oddness of her dreams. Vivanco has exhibited in solo and group shows across the U.S. including California Center for the Arts Museum, The Portsmouth Museum of Art, Thinkspace, SURU, Gallery 1988, Subtext, Rotofugi, Flatcolor, 323 East, London Miles, Art Basel and Orange County Center for Contemporary Arts. Her work is collected in the U.S. and abroad; and her daily comic, Patches, has a world-wide following. Kelly's first illustrated children's book Snow White & Rose Red was just released. She currently resides in Escondido, California. The exhibition will run from March 12 - April 2, 2016. ArtHatch is a 7000 square foot building which houses the front gallery: exhibitions changing monthly, "The Alley," featuring new and previous works from over 25 artists, the teen room featuring artwork by 15 local teens, 14 artist studios, ranging in size from 150 to 800 square feet, featuring the work of 20 local artists. |
